Programmatic SEO in Taiwan

A Traditional Chinese market where marketplaces own the head and your own site only wins on the layers Shopee and Momo never generate.

We build the comparison, specification and locality layers that sit above Shopee and Momo — in Taiwanese Traditional Chinese, with the convenience-store and payment context Taiwanese buyers check for before they convert.

What we do here

One engine, six moving parts — running in Taiwan

Programmatic SEO is not a content order. It is a data model, a template system, a performance budget and a maintenance routine that has to keep working after launch. We own all four.

01

Marketplace gap mapping first

We pull your category's SERP and mark exactly which intents Shopee, Momo, PChome and Ruten already own, then scope templates only for the intents they leave open. Attacking their head terms is how Taiwanese builds waste their crawl budget.

02

Taiwanese vocabulary, enforced

Copy briefs carry an explicit banned-term list for mainland variants (軟件, 網絡, 信息) and are written by Taiwan-based writers. Script conversion is not localisation and readers notice within a sentence.

03

Specification and compatibility templates

The page types marketplaces don't generate: real specs, real compatibility matrices, real comparisons built from your own structured data — which is where an independent site consistently outranks a platform.

04

Fulfilment context on every commercial page

超商取貨 availability, ATM transfer and instalment options are template components. They answer the highest-frequency pre-purchase question in Taiwanese retail instead of leaving it to checkout.

05

Google plus Bing/Yahoo coverage

Yahoo Taiwan's residual desktop share is Bing-fed and larger than in most Google-dominant markets, so we submit and monitor there as standard.

06

Monthly re-mapping against platform movement

Marketplace SERP footprints shift. We re-measure monthly and retire templates whose intents the platforms have absorbed, rather than defending pages that can no longer win.

Categories, Facets, Brands, Buying Guides

Most catalogues bleed traffic through duplicate facets, thin category copy and a crawl budget spent on parameters nobody searches for. We decide which facet combinations deserve an indexable URL, give each one merchandising logic and unique copy, and canonicalise the rest — so the catalogue works as a search asset instead of a crawl trap.

  • Brand + category crossovers
  • Buying guides

Price comparison

The comparison layer sitting above the marketplaces

BigGo is the working proof that an independent comparison surface can occupy positions above Taiwan's dominant marketplaces, by aggregating and structuring price and specification data the platforms present only inside their own walls.

  • Comparison intent captured before the marketplace click
  • Product-entity pages that cross platforms rather than living inside one
  • Specification structuring as the core differentiator

How we get you ranking

The order we work in for Taiwan

No batch of pages goes live before the batch before it has been measured. That sequencing is the reason these surfaces survive core updates.

01

Category SERP and gap audit

We map platform ownership intent by intent, so the build only targets what is actually winnable.

02

Traditional Chinese entity model

URL architecture and taxonomy built on Taiwanese vocabulary, with MRT and district layers where locality matters.

03

Spec-led template design

Specification, compatibility and comparison templates generated from your own product data, not paraphrased brochures.

04

Pilot batch of 50–200 pages

One category ships first and is measured for indexation and engagement before the engine scales.

05

Internal link fabric and Line corroboration

Hub and sibling linking on-site, plus the off-site entity signals Taiwanese local businesses corroborate through.

06

Measure, prune, refresh

Monthly coverage, cannibalisation and platform-movement review, with pruning and dated refreshes.

Market reality

What building at scale in Taiwan is actually like

Taiwan's online retail is unusually platform-concentrated. Shopee, Momo, PChome and Ruten absorb an enormous share of shopping intent, and the Trade Administration's own reporting notes that the large majority of Taiwanese merchants sell through platforms rather than their own sites. That shapes the whole programmatic question: you are not competing to be the store, you are competing to be the page that answers the question before the platform link.

Which means the winnable inventory is comparison, specification, buying-guide, compatibility and local-service content — the layers a marketplace does not bother to generate because it monetises the transaction instead. Built properly in Traditional Chinese, those layers outrank marketplace category pages on informational and mid-funnel queries surprisingly often.

The recurring technical failure is treating Taiwan as interchangeable with mainland China. Different script, different vocabulary, different platforms, different payment habits (convenience-store pickup and payment is a genuine competitive feature here). Content that carries mainland vocabulary reads wrong to a Taiwanese buyer within one sentence.

Google dominates Taiwanese search; Yahoo Taiwan retains a real residual share, particularly among older desktop users, and it is fed by Bing's index.
Shopee, Momo, PChome, Ruten and books.com.tw own most transactional head terms — the Trade Administration's Taiwan eCommerce guide identifies Shopee, Momo and PChome as the dominant B2C platforms.
Traditional Chinese with Taiwanese vocabulary is mandatory. Mainland terminology (軟件 vs 軟體, 網絡 vs 網路) is an instant out-of-market signal.
Line, not WhatsApp, is the messaging layer, and Line's own search and content surfaces carry meaningful discovery weight for local services.
Where it goes wrong

The failure modes we keep finding in Taiwan

Scaled pages don't get demoted for being scaled. They get demoted for being interchangeable, slow, or wrong about the place they claim to serve.

Fighting marketplaces on head terms

Publishing category pages that go directly at Shopee and Momo rankings wastes the entire crawl budget. The realistic entry is the comparison, spec and compatibility layer those platforms never generate.

Mainland vocabulary in Traditional script

Converting Simplified copy to Traditional characters does not localise it. The word choices remain mainland, and Taiwanese readers notice immediately — as do assistants weighing which source is locale-appropriate.

Ignoring convenience-store fulfilment

Pages that don't state 超商取貨 availability skip the most-asked pre-purchase question in Taiwanese retail, which costs conversions and leaves an obvious content gap unfilled.

No Line presence in the entity graph

Local businesses in Taiwan corroborate through Line official accounts. A brand absent from that layer has thinner off-site entity signals than its competitors, which shows up in how assistants describe it.

Yahoo Taiwan left uncovered

Because Yahoo TW draws on Bing, skipping Bing submission quietly gives up a share of desktop visibility that is larger here than in most Google-dominant markets.

Questions

Programmatic SEO in Taiwan — straight answers

Can a Taiwanese brand outrank Shopee and Momo?

Not on transactional head terms, and you should not try. You can consistently outrank them on comparison, specification, compatibility and buying-guide intent, because those pages need domain knowledge the platforms don't generate at scale.

Is Simplified-to-Traditional conversion enough?

No. Script conversion leaves mainland vocabulary intact, which is the part Taiwanese readers actually notice. Copy has to be briefed and written in Taiwanese Mandarin, with a banned-term list for mainland variants.

Does convenience-store pickup really matter to SEO?

It matters to conversion first and to content coverage second. 超商取貨 is one of the most searched pre-purchase qualifiers in Taiwanese retail, so a template that states it clearly answers a real query instead of leaving it to a competitor.

Should I target Yahoo Taiwan separately?

You should submit to Bing Webmaster Tools and monitor there, since Yahoo TW is Bing-fed. Beyond that the content strategy is the same — but skipping the submission gives up more here than in most markets.

How does Line fit in?

Line official accounts are the corroborating entity layer for Taiwanese local businesses. It won't rank your pages directly, but it strengthens the off-site signals that decide whether an assistant names your brand when summarising a local category.

Want the Taiwan surface scoped before you build it?

We'll audit the data source, size the first batch, set the performance budget and tell you honestly if programmatic is the wrong tool for your category.
