Programmatic SEO in Brazil

A pt-BR-only, mobile-first market where Mercado Livre and OLX already own most transactional intent.

We build and run programmatic SEO surfaces for Brazilian companies in genuine Brazilian Portuguese — data model, templates, publishing engine, performance budget and the monthly hygiene that keeps pages ranking against Mercado Livre and OLX.

What we do here

One engine, six moving parts — running in Brazil

Programmatic SEO is not a content order. It is a data model, a template system, a performance budget and a maintenance routine that has to keep working after launch. We own all four.

01

Brazilian Portuguese, not translated Portuguese

Copy is drafted by Brazilian writers against a pt-BR brief. We never machine-translate from English or from Iberian or neutral Spanish-derived sources — the register, abbreviations and search phrasing are distinctly Brazilian.

02

Marketplace-gap mapping before templates

We pull the target-category SERP and mark exactly where Mercado Livre and OLX already own the intent, then build the comparison, guide and bairro layer they under-serve instead of fighting a head term we can't win.

03

Entry-Android performance budget

LCP and INP budgets are tested against a mid-range Android device on throttled 4G, matching the device profile that represents most Brazilian organic mobile traffic, enforced in CI before publish.

04

LGPD-compliant forms by construction

Consent language, lawful basis and retention notices ship inside the form template itself, so every page that collects data is compliant without a separate legal pass.

05

Pix and local payment context on-page

Pricing and checkout-adjacent copy references Pix, boleto and parcelamento explicitly — the clearest signal of a page actually built for Brazil rather than adapted from elsewhere.

06

Index governance, monthly

Coverage reports, cannibalisation checks between bairro-level pages, pruning of the bottom decile and refresh cycles — programmatic surfaces fail in month seven, unmaintained, everywhere including Brazil.

Categories, Facets, Brands, Buying Guides

Most catalogues bleed traffic through duplicate facets, thin category copy and a crawl budget spent on parameters nobody searches for. We decide which facet combinations deserve an indexable URL, give each one merchandising logic and unique copy, and canonicalise the rest — so the catalogue works as a search asset instead of a crawl trap.

Mercado Livre
Marketplace

Category × product × seller at national scale

Mercado Livre's Brazilian surface runs a category, product and seller-profile matrix backed by live inventory, ratings and Mercado Pago checkout data — the trust and freshness bar any independent Brazilian retail page is compared against.

  • Seller ratings and Mercado Pago buyer protection give every listing page trust signals a static page can't replicate
  • Category pages are kept alive against real inventory, not frozen HTML
  • Pix integration is visible throughout the checkout and pricing layer

How we get you ranking

The order we work in for Brazil

No batch of pages goes live before the batch before it has been measured. That sequencing is the reason these surfaces survive core updates.

01

Demand and portal audit

We pull your Search Console, the Mercado Livre/OLX/Zap Imóveis SERP footprint for your category, and map which page types can realistically rank in Brazilian Portuguese.

02

Entity model and bairro-aware URL architecture

Clean URLs with a location taxonomy that goes to zona and bairro level where the vertical demands it, matching how Brazilians actually search.

03

Pilot batch of 50–200 pages

A small batch ships first in São Paulo or another priority metro and gets measured for indexation and engagement before we scale.

04

Scale with quality and LGPD gates

The engine publishes in controlled waves with uniqueness, performance and LGPD-compliance checks running on every page.

05

Internal link fabric

Hub pages, bairro sibling links and breadcrumb chains so deep pages sit close to the homepage instead of orphaned in a sitemap.

06

Measure, prune, refresh

Monthly review of what ranks against the marketplaces, what stalls, and what needs a pricing or Pix-context refresh.

Your data, your WordPress, your domain. We bring the engine, the gates and the discipline.

We publish from the source you already trust.

No re-keying, no CSV graveyard.

Google Sheets, Airtable, RD Station, your product API, WooCommerce or VTEX catalogues, or a plain CSV drop. Each row becomes a page, each price update refreshes with a visible date, and each removal becomes a proper 410.

Market reality

What building at scale in Brazil is actually like

Brazil is not a Spanish-speaking market pretending to be Portuguese — it's its own linguistic universe, and treating pt-BR as an afterthought hreflang variant of es-419 is the single fastest way to sink a launch here. Search volume concentrates in Portuguese with distinctly Brazilian phrasing, slang and abbreviation patterns that a machine-translated Iberian-Portuguese template will visibly get wrong to a local reader within the first sentence.

The commercial layer is dominated by Mercado Livre, OLX and, in verticals like real estate and vehicles, by Zap Imóveis and Webmotors — portals with enormous crawl budgets, native app installs, and category pages that already rank for almost every product and service noun in the language. A programmatic surface that copies their taxonomy loses; one that targets the comparison, neighbourhood and buying-guide layer these portals under-serve has a real opening.

The infrastructure reality is also different from the US or Western Europe: a large share of organic traffic arrives on mid-range and entry-level Android handsets over 4G, frequently on prepaid data plans where every extra kilobyte has a cost the visitor feels. Combine that with LGPD consent requirements on anything that touches personal data, and the performance-and-compliance budget for Brazil has to be set for the device in a São Paulo periferia, not a demo laptop in a coworking space.

Google holds close to the entire Brazilian search market on both desktop and mobile; Bing's presence is negligible outside a handful of managed corporate fleets, so there is effectively one search engine to design for.
AI Overviews and Gemini surfaces have rolled out to Brazil later and more unevenly than to English-language markets, which means classic organic and rich-result real estate — FAQ blocks, product schema, review stars — still carries outsized weight in the SERP today.
Mercado Livre and OLX listings frequently outrank independent commercial pages for head-term product and service queries, and Instagram/WhatsApp-driven discovery competes directly with organic search for local-service intent in a way most Western markets don't see.
Where it goes wrong

The failure modes we keep finding in Brazil

Scaled pages don't get demoted for being scaled. They get demoted for being interchangeable, slow, or wrong about the place they claim to serve.

pt-BR treated as a translation of es-419

Templates built for Spanish-language LATAM and machine-translated into Portuguese carry Spanish sentence structure and false cognates. Brazilian readers notice immediately, and engagement metrics reflect it.

Mercado Livre and OLX absorbing head-term intent

Product, vehicle and rental head terms are dominated by marketplace listing pages with review counts and Pix-enabled checkout that an independent domain cannot replicate. The winnable layer sits one step removed — comparisons, guides, neighbourhood and model-specific detail.

Heavy pages on light connections

Templates designed against a fibre connection routinely blow past LCP budget on the 4G-and-entry-Android profile that represents most Brazilian organic traffic, and Google's mobile-first index penalises that gap directly.

LGPD gaps on lead and contact forms

Forms that collect personal data without a clear consent basis or a retention policy create legal exposure and, increasingly, trust signals search-savvy Brazilian users check for before submitting.

No Pix or local payment context on commerce pages

Pages that describe pricing purely in card-payment terms miss that Pix now accounts for a large share of Brazilian e-commerce transactions, and its absence reads as a page not built for the local market.

Playbook

How we build a Brazil surface

Same order every time. The uniqueness gate and the performance budget come before a single page publishes.

  1. 1
Write in Brazilian Portuguese from a Brazilian brief

Templates are drafted with Brazilian copywriters against a Brazilian style guide, not translated from an English or Spanish master — abbreviations, regionalisms and search phrasing differ enough that translation alone fails the uniqueness bar.

  2. 2
Map the Mercado Livre and OLX gap

Before writing a single template we pull the SERP for the target category and mark exactly which intents the portals already win, so the build targets comparison, guide and long-tail neighbourhood queries instead of a head term we cannot take.

  3. 3
Budget Core Web Vitals for entry-level Android

LCP and INP budgets are set and tested against a mid-range Android device on a throttled 4G connection, not a flagship phone on office wifi.

  4. 4
Bake in LGPD from the template, not the legal review

Consent language, data-retention notices and a lawful basis statement ship inside the form template itself, so every page that collects data is compliant by construction.

  5. 5
Surface Pix and local payment context

Pricing, checkout and cost-comparison pages mention Pix, boleto and instalment (parcelamento) norms explicitly — the absence of this context is one of the clearest tells of a non-local page to a Brazilian reader.

  6. 6
Publish in waves and watch indexation

Small batches first, verified in Search Console for Brazil-specific query patterns before scaling — the same discipline as any other market, applied to a market where crawl patience is thinner.

Questions

Programmatic SEO in Brazil — straight answers

Can we launch with Spanish-language templates translated into Portuguese?

No. Machine-translated or Spanish-derived Portuguese reads wrong to Brazilian users almost immediately and will not clear a genuine uniqueness bar either.

Is it worth competing with Mercado Livre on head terms?

Rarely for a new domain. The realistic opening is the comparison, guide and neighbourhood layer the marketplace itself doesn't build well.

Do we need to support Pix on-page even if checkout happens elsewhere?

Mentioning Pix and local payment norms in pricing content is still worth it — it's a strong local-relevance signal to Brazilian readers even before checkout.

How big a factor is mobile performance really?

Very large. With the majority of visits on mid-range Android over 4G, a template that fails Core Web Vitals there will underperform its ranking position regardless of content quality.

What does LGPD change about how we build forms?

Every form needs explicit consent language and a stated retention basis baked into the template, not retrofitted after legal review.

How many cities should a first Brazilian batch cover?

Start with 2–4 major metros where you have real service or data coverage, then expand once indexation and engagement confirm the template works.

Want the Brazil surface scoped before you build it?

We'll audit the data source, size the first batch, set the performance budget and tell you honestly if programmatic is the wrong tool for your category.
